HEALTHY AGEING, stage project, multi-morbidity

WORK PACKAGE 2 OBJECTIVE

With a focus on historical, ethical, legal, and societal (HELSI) factors, the WP seeks to identify barriers and opportunities for policies and practices across the life course to prevent the risk of ageing with multi-morbidity, whilst building a consensus amongst experts on healthy ageing. The WP will create ethical recommendations and guidelines for both clinicians and ageing citizens.

WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT?

It is important, throughout any healthcare project, to keep
in mind the wider context in which it is being carried out.
This includes considering the social consequences and ethical implications of the study.

It will look at barriers and opportunities in existing EU
policy and practices, working to build consensus between
experts around STAGE’s findings.

WP2 also examines issues of equity in relation to healthy ageing, ensuring that fairness and inclusion are considered
in the project’s approach and outcomes.

WP2 ACTIVITIES AND INTERLINKAGES

WP2 works with partners across the STAGE project. Key tasks include:

T2.1

META-REVIEWS

Conducting meta-reviews of international literature to identify existing health interventions, structural factors that can influence ageing, and the historical context of our approach.

T2.2

CONSENSUS BUILDING

Using Delphi-based methods, bringing together groups of experts in cooperation with WP10, alongside the findings from our literature reviews, for interviews to achieve consensus on key issues.

T2.3

NORMATIVE ANALYSIS & RECOMMENDATIONS

Conducting normative analyses to created evidence-based recommendations for healthy ageing and producing a policy briefing, together with WP10.

T2.4

TESTING HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS

Using the recommendations generated in T2.3, they will be tested on health and social care providers via the ‘Healthy Ageing Lab’ (see WP10) and workshop discussions to generate guidelines and consensus.

T2.5

TESTING POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

Understanding and mapping the policy environment and key policy stakeholders, identifying barriers, opportunities and key messaging priorities. A policy working group will be established as part of this task.

WP2 STAKEHOLDER IMPACTS

Ensuring that the experience of ageing stakeholders is fully understood across the STAGE project, both currently and historically.
